Disposable adult breathing circuit with an extendable hose from 0.5 to 1.8 m, for theatres where circuit reach changes during a case.
8 metres. Drawing the hose out gives reach when the machine is further from the patient, and compressing it back removes the slack that would otherwise hang loose over a short run. The circuit is disposable and is discarded after the patient. Because extending the hose changes the volume of gas held in the circuit, the pre-use check is performed with the hose set to the working length for the case.
It is used in the operating room and in intensive care on adult patients, particularly where the table is repositioned mid-case or where access around the head of the table is restricted.
