The water trap collects the condensate that forms when humidified expired gas cools inside the tubing, keeping it in a drainable reservoir instead of pooling in the limbs. The Infinity ID tag is read by the machine to identify the circuit type and monitor its usage period without manual logging.
The circuit is used in the operating room and in intensive care on adult patients, and is specified in preference to the Basic circuit where humidification or case length makes condensate likely.
