The RT212 hose kit is a disposable breathing circuit with heater wire in the inspiratory limb, specified for use with a Fisher & Paykel MR850 humidifier. The heated limb holds the temperature of inspired gas between the humidification chamber and the patient connection, so that gas arrives at the airway warm and saturated instead of cooling and shedding condensate in the tubing.
The expiratory limb is unheated, which is the standard configuration for adult circuits where condensate in the return line is managed by a water trap or by the circuit design. It is used in intensive care and neonatal intensive care areas for adult patients on invasive ventilation with active humidification.
