3M Unitek Stainless Steel Straight Length Archwire
Straight length stainless steel orthodontic archwire available in Hi-T II and Permachrome wire types, supplied in round, rectangular and square profiles.
3M Unitek Stainless Steel Archwire is a straight length archwire used by orthodontists throughout fixed appliance treatment to guide and control tooth movement. It is supplied across Hi-T II, Permachrome Standard and Permachrome Resilient wire types, giving practices a choice of stiffness and flexibility characteristics suited to different stages of treatment, from initial alignment through to finishing.
The archwire range covers round, rectangular and square wire profiles, allowing the orthodontist to select the cross section appropriate for the bracket slot size and the specific mechanics planned for that phase of treatment, such as torque control in later stages using a rectangular wire. Straight length wires, as opposed to pre-formed arch shapes, are typically bent and shaped chairside by the orthodontist to fit the individual patient's arch form, giving more control over customisation for complex cases.
This product is noted as transitioning to Solventum Stainless Steel Straight Lengths, reflecting the ongoing rebrand of 3M's health care business, with the archwire itself continuing to serve the same role in general orthodontic practices running a standard fixed appliance treatment protocol.
