The 3M AlastiK Bobbin Chain Dispensing System is a chairside organiser built to hold up to sixteen bobbin chains of AlastiK elastomeric ligature at once, keeping them within easy reach during orthodontic appointments. Elastomeric chain is used to close spaces, retract teeth and provide light continuous force along the archwire, and practices that place a lot of chain benefit from having several colours or chain types loaded and ready rather than searching through loose bobbins between patients.
The dispensing system is a reusable piece of chairside equipment rather than a consumable, intended to stay in the operatory and be restocked with fresh bobbin chain as supplies are used. It pairs with the separately available replacement blade used to cut chain to length as it is dispensed.
