3M Unitek Sickle-Style Cement Remover and Positioner
A double-ended instrument with a curved sickle tip for removing bonding adhesive and a flat serrated tip for positioning brackets.
The 3M Unitek Sickle-Style Cement Remover and Bracket Positioner is a double-ended chairside instrument built to handle two related steps in orthodontic bonding. One end has a curved, tapered tip with sharpened inside radii, shaped to remove excess direct bonding adhesive cleanly from around a newly placed bracket without scratching the enamel.
The other end has a flat, serrated tip designed to push and seat the bracket precisely onto the tooth surface during placement, giving the clinician better control over final positioning than fingers alone allow. Having both functions on one instrument reduces the number of tools an orthodontic assistant needs to reach for during a bonding appointment, where multiple brackets are typically placed and cleaned up in a single visit.
As a reusable stainless instrument, it is sterilised between patients and used repeatedly across bonding procedures rather than discarded after one use.
