3M Unitek Eyelets, Low Height Strip Form
Low height orthodontic eyelets supplied in strip form with break-away scoring, giving ample space for ligation while sitting close to the tooth surface.
Unitek Eyelets are small attachments used to give the clinician a ligation point on a tooth, typically welded onto a band or incorporated into a wire assembly wherever a defined loop is needed to thread and tie a ligature. Their defining feature is a very low overall height, keeping the attachment sitting close to the surface it is mounted on while still providing ample space inside the eyelet for a ligature to pass through and be tied securely.
This balance between a low profile and a functional ligation opening matters because a bulkier attachment is more likely to be noticed and cause irritation for the patient, while an opening that is too small makes tying a ligature slower and more fiddly for the clinician chairside. Eyelets are supplied in strip form, with break-away scoring positioned between each individual eyelet so the operator or lab technician can separate off exactly the number needed for a given case rather than working with loose individual pieces.
This strip and score format speeds up preparation when multiple eyelets are needed across an arch, and practices that regularly use eyelets as a ligation point keep strips on hand as a standard, low-cost accessory.
