3M Unitek Double-Ended Dual Purpose Instrument
A double-ended instrument combining an offset taper for removing elastomeric ligatures with an angled director for module placement.
The 3M Unitek Double-Ended Dual Purpose Instrument combines two functions used regularly during orthodontic adjustments into a single stainless steel hand tool. One end has an offset taper designed for removing 3M AlastiK Ligatures cleanly from the bracket, while the other end carries an angled notch ligature director that helps the clinician place AlastiK modules into hard to reach areas of the mouth.
Combining both functions on one instrument reduces how often the orthodontic assistant needs to switch tools during a routine adjustment visit, where ligatures are typically removed from every bracket and then replaced with fresh ones across the arch. This makes it a practical, time saving addition to a chairside tray for practices using AlastiK elastomeric ligature systems.
As a reusable stainless instrument, it is sterilised and used repeatedly across patients rather than discarded after a single procedure.
