Sklar Wachenfeldt Wound Clips, 16mm
16mm metal wound clips used to close surgical incisions in place of traditional sutures, applied individually along the skin edge.
The Sklar Wachenfeldt Wound Clips are metal clips used to close the skin edges of a surgical incision as an alternative to sutures or staples. Each clip measures sixteen millimetres and is applied individually with a matching clip forceps, allowing the surgeon to space and tension the closure along the length of the wound.
Clips of this kind are used across general, orthopaedic and other surgery where wound clip closure is preferred, often valued for the speed of application along longer incisions and the ease of later removal compared with some suturing techniques. Surgeons and theatre nurses in hospital operating rooms are the typical users, applying and later removing the clips during post-operative wound checks.
Being sold as individual, single use closure devices rather than reusable instruments, they are supplied per unit and used once per closure site, with the surface unit of measurement noted for ordering purposes by procurement teams stocking general surgery consumables.
