Sklar Syme Aneurysm Needle, Curved
A curved 6-3/4 inch aneurysm needle used to pass ligature material around blood vessels, giving surgeons controlled access during vascular procedures.
The Sklar Syme Aneurysm Needle is a specialised instrument used to carry ligature material around a blood vessel so it can be tied off or controlled before further dissection. Its curved shape allows the surgeon to pass the tip carefully around the vessel from one side and bring it out on the other, avoiding a wider or more traumatic dissection to achieve the same result.
At six and three quarter inches, it is sized for general and vascular surgery where vessels of moderate size need to be encircled. Aneurysm needles of this kind are used in vascular, general and cardiothoracic surgery whenever a vessel needs to be looped for ligation, temporary control or the placement of a vessel loop.
Vascular surgeons and general surgeons in hospital operating theatres rely on this instrument as a standard part of a vascular or general surgery tray. As a reusable stainless steel instrument, it is cleaned, inspected and steam sterilized between cases.
