Bionex Double Skin Hook, Stainless Steel
An autoclavable stainless steel double skin hook used in surgery to lift, evert and retract skin edges with minimal tissue trauma during closure.
The Bionex Double Skin Hook is a stainless steel surgical instrument featuring two sharp points on its working end, giving the surgeon a wider, more stable engagement with the skin edge than a single hook while still causing minimal tissue trauma. It is used during wound closure, plastic surgery and other procedures where the skin edge needs to be everted, lifted or gently retracted so a suture can be placed accurately or the tissue plane can be examined.
The two point design spreads the load across a slightly broader area of tissue, which can reduce the risk of the hook slipping compared to a single point when handling thicker or more mobile skin. Made from stainless steel, the instrument is autoclavable and built to withstand the repeated sterilisation cycles expected of reusable surgical tools in a hospital operating theatre.
Plastic surgeons, dermatologic surgeons and general surgeons use double skin hooks as part of their standard suturing and minor procedure instrument set, often keeping both single and double versions on hand for different tissue handling needs. As with other reusable stainless steel instruments, it must be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised between patients.
