Sklar Schmieden Ligature Needle, Curved
A double ended, curved ligature needle used to pass suture or ligature material around blood vessels and tissue bundles during surgery.
The Sklar Schmieden Ligature Needle is a specialised surgical needle used to carry ligature material around a vessel, duct or tissue bundle so it can be tied off. Its curved shape lets the surgeon pass the tip around the target structure from one side and retrieve it on the other without a separate incision, and the double ended design gives two working points on a single instrument.
This kind of ligature needle is used across general, vascular and gynaecological surgery wherever a structure needs to be encircled for ligation rather than clamped and cut directly. Surgeons and assisting staff in hospital operating theatres rely on it for procedures where blunt, controlled passage behind tissue is safer than a sharp dissecting instrument.
Made from surgical stainless steel, it is fully reusable and processed through standard decontamination and sterilization cycles between cases, and is commonly stocked alongside other suture passing instruments in a general surgery set.
