Sklar Pratt Rectal Speculum with Set Screw
A rectal speculum from Sklar fitted with a set screw to hold the blades in an open position, used by surgeons during anorectal examination and procedures.
The Sklar Pratt Rectal Speculum is used to gently open and hold the anal canal so the surgeon can examine the rectal and anal tissue or carry out a minor procedure within that field. The set screw included with this instrument allows the blades to be locked at the desired opening, keeping the field stable throughout an examination or procedure without the clinician needing to hold the speculum open by hand the entire time.
This design is used routinely in colorectal, general surgical and gastroenterology practice for both diagnostic assessment and as an access instrument during minor anorectal surgery, such as hemorrhoid banding or biopsy. A stable, adjustable speculum of this kind improves the surgeon's ability to work with both hands free once the blades are locked in place.
Colorectal surgery clinics, general surgical outpatient departments and endoscopy units performing anorectal procedures typically stock a speculum like this as standard examination and procedure equipment.
