Bionex Ear Funnel, Stainless Steel
An autoclavable stainless steel ear funnel used to gently open the ear canal entrance, giving clinicians a clearer view during ear examinations.
The Bionex Ear Funnel, also commonly known as an ear speculum, is a small stainless steel funnel shaped instrument used to gently widen the entrance to the ear canal so a clinician can get a clear, unobstructed view of the canal and eardrum during an examination. It is typically attached to or used alongside an otoscope light source, with the funnel shape directing the clinician's view straight down the canal while holding the surrounding tissue comfortably out of the way.
Because ear canals vary in size between patients, having a properly fitted funnel improves both patient comfort and the quality of the examination, reducing the chance of the instrument pressing uncomfortably against the canal wall. Made from stainless steel, the funnel is autoclavable, allowing it to go through a standard sterilisation cycle and be reused across many patients rather than treated as disposable, which suits clinics that prefer reusable ear examination equipment.
General practitioners, ENT specialists, audiologists and nurse practitioners use ear funnels as one of the most routine instruments in any ear, nose and throat examination. As with other reusable stainless steel instruments, it should be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised between each patient.
