Sklar Millin Bladder Retractor Complete, Fiber Optic
A fiber optic self retaining retractor system used to expose the bladder and provide illumination during open urological surgery.
The Sklar Millin Bladder Retractor Complete is a self retaining retractor system used in open urological surgery, most notably in procedures involving the bladder and prostate, where it holds surgical margins apart to give the surgeon steady, hands free access to a deep pelvic surgical field. The system is supplied complete with a frame and two pairs of lateral blades measuring 25mm by 57mm and 25mm by 80mm, allowing the surgeon to select the blade depth appropriate to the patient's anatomy and the depth of the incision, and it includes a fiber optic carrier that channels light directly into the surgical field to improve visibility at depth.
With a 120mm spread, the frame is built for larger open pelvic incisions rather than minimally invasive access. Urologists rely on retractor systems of this type as a core part of open bladder and prostate surgery instrument sets. As with other Sklar surgical instruments, all metal components of this system are intended for repeated cleaning and sterilisation between procedures, and the fiber optic element should be checked for damage before each use.
