Bionex Anterior Vaginal Wall Retractor
An autoclavable stainless steel retractor used in gynaecological procedures to hold back the anterior vaginal wall and improve surgical access.
The Bionex Anterior Vaginal Wall Retractor is a stainless steel instrument designed specifically to hold back the front, or anterior, wall of the vagina during gynaecological examinations and surgical procedures. This targeted shape gives the clinician clearer access to the cervix and surrounding structures when the anterior wall would otherwise obstruct the view, complementing the role that a Sims or Doyen retractor plays for the posterior wall.
Made from stainless steel, the retractor is autoclavable and built to withstand the repeated sterilisation cycles that reusable gynaecological instruments go through between patients in a hospital or clinic setting. Gynaecologists, obstetricians and specialist nurses use retractors like this during pelvic examinations, minor gynaecological procedures and certain vaginal surgeries where good exposure of the anterior compartment matters.
It is generally used alongside other retractors and specula, with the clinician selecting the combination that best suits the specific procedure and the patient's anatomy. As with other reusable stainless steel instruments, it must be properly decontaminated and sterilised between uses in line with the facility's infection control protocol before returning to the instrument tray.
