Sklar Merit Excavator Curette, Double End, Cupped
A double ended excavator curette with 3mm and 4mm cupped ends, used to remove decayed material or soft tissue during dental cavity preparation.
The Sklar Merit Excavator Curette is a double ended dental hand instrument used to scoop out decayed tooth structure or soft debris during cavity preparation. The two cupped working ends measure 3mm and 4mm, giving the operator a choice of scoop size on the same handle so they can move between coarser and finer excavation without switching instruments mid procedure.
At 5-1/2 inches long, the instrument offers a comfortable reach for intraoral work while remaining short enough for the fine control needed near the tooth surface. This pattern is used routinely by dentists during restorative procedures, particularly when preparing a cavity for a filling and clearing away softened dentine before placing restorative material.
Manufactured from surgical grade stainless steel, the excavator holds a clean, functional edge on its cups through repeated use and standard autoclave sterilisation. It is a standard item in general dental instrument trays, restorative kits and diagnostic sets used across dental clinics and hospital dental departments.
