Sklar Merit Canine Mouth Gag, Small, 3-1/2 in
A Sklar Merit canine mouth gag, small size, 3-1/2 inches, used to hold a dog's mouth open safely during dental or oral veterinary examination and procedures.
A mouth gag is used to hold an animal's jaws apart safely, giving the veterinary team clear access to the oral cavity for examination, dental work or minor procedures without risking the handler's fingers or the animal biting down unexpectedly under anaesthesia. This Sklar Merit version is sized for small dogs, measuring 3-1/2 inches, suited to a smaller jaw span than would be needed for a medium or large breed.
It is used by veterinarians and veterinary dental technicians during dental cleanings, extractions and oral examinations performed under sedation or anaesthesia. Selecting a gag sized appropriately for the patient helps hold the mouth open at a safe, stable width without placing excessive strain on the jaw joint.
It should be cleaned and sterilised between patients following standard veterinary instrument reprocessing protocols.
