Sklar Mayo Gallstone Scoop, Double End
A double ended scoop instrument used to retrieve gallstones from the bile duct during open cholecystectomy and duct exploration.
The Sklar Mayo Gallstone Scoop features a working end on each side of the handle, giving the surgeon two scoop profiles in a single instrument without needing to reach for a second tool during common bile duct exploration or open cholecystectomy. Once the duct is opened, the surgeon uses the appropriate end of the scoop to sweep out stones or fragments obstructing bile flow, choosing the side that best matches the size or position of the material being retrieved.
This double ended design can streamline the surgical workflow compared with using two separate single ended scoops, since the surgeon simply flips the instrument rather than exchanging it. General surgeons and hepatobiliary specialists use this instrument as part of a standard biliary exploration set, alongside duct probes, dilators and forceps.
It measures 10-3/4 inches overall. This listing is a single configuration. As with other Sklar surgical instruments, it is manufactured from surgical stainless steel and intended for repeated cleaning and sterilisation between procedures.
