Sklar Laser Pratt Rectal Speculum
A rectal speculum built to the Pratt pattern, used to hold the anal canal open for visual examination and laser assisted or standard anorectal treatment.
The Sklar Laser Pratt Rectal Speculum follows the well established Pratt speculum design, adapted for use where laser assisted treatment of anorectal conditions is planned alongside standard visual examination. Once inserted, the speculum holds the anal canal open, giving the clinician a stable, unobstructed channel through which to view the rectal mucosa and pass any treatment instrument, including a laser fiber, needed to address the condition being treated.
The Pratt pattern is a long established shape in anorectal instrumentation, valued for the exposure it provides relative to its size, and the laser adapted version is built to accommodate this specific treatment approach without changing that basic function. Colorectal surgeons, general surgeons and gastroenterologists performing laser assisted or conventional anorectal procedures use this speculum in clinic or outpatient procedure settings.
As a reusable instrument that contacts mucosal tissue, it must be thoroughly cleaned and sterilized between patients according to standard reprocessing protocols before every use.
