Sklar Koenig Guide Probe, 7mm Tip 7-1/2 Inch
A 7-1/2 inch guide probe with a 7mm tip, used to explore tissue planes and guide dissection safely during general surgical procedures.
The Sklar Koenig Guide Probe is a blunt tipped instrument measuring 7-1/2 inches with a 7mm diameter tip, sized to pass through tissue planes, ducts or small passages to help the surgeon confirm the safe path before introducing sharper dissecting instruments. Its rounded, blunt profile is intended to minimize the risk of injury to surrounding structures while still giving the surgeon useful tactile feedback about the depth and direction of a passage.
Guide probes of this type are used across general and specialty surgery as a preliminary exploratory step, particularly in procedures where a duct, canal or plane needs to be identified and protected, such as biliary or urologic surgery. Surgeons and surgical assistants use it in combination with other dissecting instruments rather than as a stand-alone cutting tool.
As a reusable stainless steel instrument, it should be cleaned and sterilized between cases following standard surgical instrument reprocessing protocols, with the tip checked before use to confirm it remains smooth and free of damage.
