Sklar Jacobson Probe, Double End Ball Tips
A double ended surgical probe with a rounded ball tip at each end, used to gently explore tissue planes, cavities or small openings during a procedure.
The Sklar Jacobson Probe is a double ended surgical probe finished with a smooth, rounded ball tip at each end of its shaft, a shape chosen to allow gentle exploration of tissue without the risk of puncturing or tearing delicate structures. Having two working ends on one instrument gives the surgeon a choice of tip size or angle without switching to a separate probe, which is useful when checking a duct, passage or cavity of uncertain size during an operation.
Probes of this type are used across general and specialty surgery whenever the surgeon needs tactile information about a tissue plane or opening before proceeding, such as confirming the patency of a duct or feeling for a foreign object. Its simple, blunt design makes it a low risk instrument to introduce into a surgical field for exploratory purposes.
As a reusable stainless steel instrument, it should be cleaned and sterilized between cases following standard reprocessing protocols, and both ball tips should be checked to confirm they remain smooth and free of nicks before use.
