Sklar Improved Rudd Clinic Hemorrhoid Ligator, Spring Reset
A spring loaded hemorrhoid ligator with a detachable head and loading cone, used by clinicians to place rubber bands during hemorrhoid banding.
The Sklar Improved Rudd Clinic Hemorrhoid Ligator is a manual banding device built around the Rudd Clinic design, which uses an integrated resetting spring so the instrument returns to its ready position after each band is fired without needing to be manually recocked. This is intended to speed up repeated banding within the same session and reduce fumbling during the procedure.
Like other ligators of this type, the head is detachable for thorough cleaning, and the instrument is supplied with a loading cone used to transfer a rubber band onto the ligator jaws before use. It is used by colorectal surgeons, general surgeons and gastroenterologists performing rubber band ligation for symptomatic internal hemorrhoids, typically in an outpatient or endoscopy setting.
Because it is a reusable metal instrument that contacts mucosal tissue, it must be fully disassembled, cleaned and sterilized between patients following the manufacturer's reprocessing guidance, with particular attention paid to the spring mechanism and the detachable head where residue can collect.
