Sklar Econo Guthrie Double Hook, Sharp
A disposable double-pronged retraction hook with two large sharp prongs, used to lift and hold tissue during surgical procedures. Supplied disposable for single use. The wider two-prong grip gives stable traction while the operator's hand stays clear of the field.
The Econo Guthrie double hook from Sklar is a disposable retraction instrument fitted with two large, sharp prongs that engage tissue firmly for lifting and holding it out of the way during a surgical step. The double-prong design gives a wider, more stable grip than a single hook, reducing the chance of the tissue slipping free while the surgeon or assistant maintains traction.
At seven inches, the hook offers a comfortable length for general surgical use, allowing the operator's hand to stay a reasonable distance from the operative field while still maintaining precise control over the tissue being retracted. Supplied disposable, the hook is used for a single case and then discarded, keeping the prong points sharp and properly formed for reliable tissue engagement rather than allowing them to blunt with repeated sterilisation over time.
General and orthopaedic surgery departments commonly keep this instrument stocked alongside single-prong hooks and other manual retractors, using whichever pattern best suits the tissue and depth involved in a given procedure. Packed twelve to a box, it is a routine, low-cost addition to general surgical instrument trays.
