Sklar Doyen Jansen Mouth Gag, Pediatric with Cushions
A pediatric mouth gag with padded blades and a Tru-Grip ratchet mechanism, used to hold a child's mouth open during ENT, dental or oral surgery.
The Sklar Doyen Jansen Mouth Gag is used in pediatric surgery to hold a child's mouth open and keep it in that position for the duration of an ENT, dental or oral procedure, freeing both of the surgeon's hands to work. It fits over the teeth and gums with cushioned blades so the retraction is more comfortable and less likely to injure soft tissue than an uncushioned gag, and its Tru-Grip ratchet lets the operator lock the gag at the required degree of opening and adjust it as needed during the case.
This pediatric version, measuring four and a half inches, is sized for a child's mouth rather than an adult's, an important distinction when building or restocking an ENT or dental surgery tray. Mouth gags of this pattern are common in tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy and other airway procedures where hands-free access to the oral cavity is required.
As a stainless steel instrument it is designed for repeated cleaning and sterilisation between cases in a hospital or day surgery setting.
