Sklar Beckman-Eaton Retractor, Sharp Prongs
A 13 inch self retaining retractor with sharp prongs, used to maintain hands free wound exposure during larger general surgical procedures.
The Sklar Beckman-Eaton Retractor is a self retaining surgical retractor built to hold a wound open across a wide field without ongoing manual assistance, similar in purpose to the related Beckman-Adson pattern but with its own frame geometry and prong arrangement suited to particular surgical approaches.
At 13 inches, it is intended for larger incisions where the operative field needs sustained, stable exposure over the course of the procedure. The sharp prongs at the working ends grip lightly into fascia or tissue edges to prevent slipping once the retractor is set, and a ratchet mechanism holds the desired spread until the surgeon chooses to adjust or release it.
Self retaining retractors of this kind reduce the number of assistants needed at the table and provide more consistent exposure than manual retraction over a long procedure. It is commonly used in general, abdominal and other larger scale surgical procedures. Built to the same standard as the rest of the Sklar retractor line, it is designed for repeated clinical use with standard hospital sterilization between cases.
