Sklar Balfour Retractor, Ratchet Bar 2 Prong
A ratcheted 2 prong Balfour retractor frame with interchangeable fenestrated side blades and solid centre blades, used to hold the abdomen open during surgery. It is supplied for repeated sterilization and reuse in hospital and clinic settings.
The Sklar Balfour Retractor is a ratcheted, 2 prong retractor frame used to hold the abdominal wall open during major abdominal surgery, supplied with interchangeable fenestrated side blades measuring 2-1/4 by 3-1/2 inches deep and two solid centre blades sized 2-5/8 by 1-3/4 inches and 3-1/4 by 2-3/4 inches.
The ratchet bar mechanism lets the surgical team lock the frame at the width needed for the incision and hold that exposure hands free for the duration of the procedure, which is essential during lengthy abdominal operations where continuous manual retraction would be impractical. Being able to interchange the side and centre blades means one frame can be adapted to different incision sizes and depths, giving the operating team flexibility without needing multiple dedicated retractor sets.
This is one of two Balfour retractor variants in this range, offering the surgical team a frame based option alongside the more fully equipped version. It is used by general and gynecologic surgeons and reprocessed as a set between cases.
