Sklar Axenfeld Chalazion Curette, Double End
A double ended ophthalmic curette used to scrape out the contents of a chalazion or similar eyelid lesion during minor eye surgery. It is supplied for repeated sterilization and reuse in hospital and clinic settings.
The Sklar Axenfeld Chalazion Curette is a double ended ophthalmic instrument used to scrape out the granulomatous contents of a chalazion during minor eyelid surgery, a common in office or day case procedure in ophthalmology and oculoplastic practice. Having a curette at each end, typically in two different sizes, lets the surgeon choose the loop that best matches the size of the lesion being treated without switching instruments mid procedure.
The curette is worked gently against the inner surface of the lesion capsule to remove its contents while leaving the surrounding eyelid tissue intact, which supports a cleaner recovery and reduces the chance of recurrence. This is one of the most frequently used instruments in eyelid minor surgery kits, alongside a chalazion clamp that stabilises the lid during the procedure.
It is used by ophthalmologists, oculoplastic surgeons, and general practitioners performing eyelid lesion removal, and is reprocessed for repeat use after each patient.
