Sklar Arruga Eye Protector
A protective ophthalmic instrument placed against the globe to shield the eye from instrument contact during surrounding surgical work. It is supplied for repeated sterilization and reuse in hospital and clinic settings.
The Sklar Arruga Eye Protector is a smooth, curved instrument placed over the surface of the eye to shield the globe from accidental contact while surgeons work on the eyelids, orbit, or surrounding structures. It gives the operating team a physical barrier that reduces the risk of corneal or scleral injury during procedures such as blepharoplasty, orbital surgery, or eyelid reconstruction, where sharp instruments and sutures are used close to the eye.
The protector's contour is designed to sit comfortably against the curvature of the globe, and its polished surface is intended to glide without catching on ocular tissue. This is a supporting instrument rather than an active surgical tool, and it is typically included in ophthalmic and oculoplastic trays used by ophthalmologists, oculoplastic surgeons, and plastic surgeons operating near the eye.
Like other ophthalmic instruments, it is reprocessed and sterilized between cases and stored with the rest of the eye instrument set so it is ready whenever periocular work is planned.
