Sklar Adson Aneurysm Needle, Fenestrated
A 2mm fenestrated needle, 8 3/4 inches, used to pass a ligature around a blood vessel during a surgical procedure.
The Sklar Adson Aneurysm Needle is a surgical instrument measuring 8 3/4 inches, with a 2mm fenestrated, or perforated, tip used to pass a suture or ligature around a blood vessel that needs to be tied off or isolated during a procedure. The fenestrated eye at the tip allows the surgeon to thread the ligature through the needle before guiding it carefully around and behind the vessel, a technique used when direct access from all sides is limited and a blunt, curved needle offers safer passage than attempting to pass the suture by hand.
This kind of needle is used across vascular and general surgery wherever a vessel needs to be encircled for ligation, isolation with a Rumel style tourniquet, or careful control before a repair. Its generous length supports use in deeper surgical fields where reach matters. As a reusable stainless surgical instrument, it is sterilised between cases and kept in the vascular and general surgery instrument set.
