The Sentech AlcoScan AL7000 is a handheld breath alcohol tester designed for fast, reliable screening of a subject's breath alcohol concentration. It uses a semiconductor-type alcohol sensor and displays the result on an LED screen, reading blood alcohol content in a choice of formats including percentage, per mille or milligrams per litre, which makes it adaptable to different regional reporting conventions.
5V AA alkaline batteries or from a 12V vehicle cigarette lighter socket, so it suits both handheld field use and continuous operation in a vehicle. Because it is compact and quick to use, it is well suited to workplace safety checks, transport and logistics screening, security checkpoints and roadside enforcement, where an operator needs a fast reading without sending a sample to a laboratory.
