Bionex Tongue Depressor, Stainless Steel
An autoclavable stainless steel tongue depressor used across clinics to gently hold down the tongue, giving a clear view during throat and oral exams.
The Bionex Tongue Depressor is a reusable stainless steel instrument used to gently press down the tongue so a clinician can get a clear, unobstructed view of the back of the throat, tonsils and oral cavity during a routine examination. Unlike disposable wooden depressors, this stainless steel version is designed to be cleaned, disinfected and reused many times, which suits clinics and hospitals that prefer reusable metal instruments for cost and environmental reasons over single use consumables.
Its smooth, flat surface is shaped to sit comfortably against the tongue without causing discomfort, even when the clinician needs to hold it in place for a few moments during the examination. This is one of the most frequently used instruments in general medicine, paediatrics and ENT, applied whenever a patient presents with a sore throat, suspected tonsillitis or any complaint that requires a look at the back of the mouth.
General practitioners, paediatricians, ENT specialists and school health nurses rely on tongue depressors as a routine part of nearly every physical examination involving the throat. As with other reusable stainless steel instruments, it should be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised between each patient.
