Self-Retaining Retractor, Multiple Sizes
A self-retaining surgical retractor that stays open on its own to hold an incision or wound edges apart during a procedure, reducing the need for manual retraction.
This self-retaining retractor is a surgical instrument used to hold the edges of an incision or wound open without an assistant continuously holding it in place. It works on a ratchet or spring mechanism built into the handle, which locks the blades apart once the desired opening is achieved and releases them again when the procedure is finished.
Surgeons and theatre teams use self-retaining retractors across general, orthopedic and gynecological procedures where a steady, hands-free field of view is needed. Freeing the assisting hand allows the surgical team to work more efficiently and reduces fatigue during longer operations. 5 inches up to 8 inches, so theatres can match the retractor to the depth and size of the surgical field, from smaller superficial incisions to larger abdominal or orthopedic access.
As with other reusable surgical instruments, it should be cleaned and sterilized between uses according to standard hospital protocol before being returned to the instrument tray.
