Junkin JSA-300-B Break Away Basket Stretcher
A basket stretcher that separates into two lightweight halves for foot access to remote casualties, then reassembles and locks for a secure carry.
The Junkin JSA-300-B Break Away Basket Stretcher is built for rescues where the casualty is located somewhere a full-size stretcher cannot easily be carried, such as rugged terrain, mountainsides or confined access routes that require a lengthy approach on foot. The stretcher separates into two halves, each of which can be strapped to a rescuer's back like a pack, so a team can hike to the point of rescue without carrying an assembled unit the whole way.
Once at the casualty, the two halves are joined and secured with three positive lock clamps, giving a stable, unified basket for the carry out. Four 60 inch web straps come as standard for securing the patient inside the basket during transport over uneven ground or during a vertical lift. When broken down for storage or transport, the stretcher packs into a compact space of about 44 by 12 by 24 inches, making it practical to keep in a rescue vehicle, helicopter or mountain rescue cache.
It weighs about 34 pounds and is used by search and rescue teams, mountain rescue units, fire departments and wilderness medical responders who need a durable litter for difficult access rescues.
