Elastomer Syringe for Intraoral Impression Material
A reusable dental syringe used to apply light bodied and medium bodied impression materials intraorally around a prepared tooth before taking a tray impression. It is a standard item in dental and medical practice.
The Elastomer Syringe is a reusable dental instrument used for the intraoral application of light bodied and medium bodied consistency impression materials. Before a full tray impression is taken, the clinician often uses a syringe like this one to inject material directly around the margin of the prepared tooth and into any fine detail areas, such as undercuts, that a heavier bodied tray material might not capture as accurately on its own.
Applying material this way helps ensure the finer anatomical details of the preparation are recorded clearly, which supports a more accurate final impression and, in turn, a better fitting crown, bridge or other indirect restoration. As a reusable instrument, the syringe is cleaned and sterilised between patients, and its individual parts, such as the barrel, washer, screw and hub cap, are available as separate replacement components for ongoing maintenance.
Dentists and dental assistants use this syringe routinely during crown and bridge impression procedures in general and prosthodontic dentistry.
