Disposable Scalpel, Carbon Steel Blade, Sterile
A sterile disposable scalpel with a plastic handle and carbon steel blade, used for a single surgical or minor procedure and then discarded as sharps waste.
This disposable scalpel combines a moulded plastic handle with a carbon steel blade in a single sterile unit, supplied ready to use straight from its packaging without the assembly a reusable scalpel handle and blade would need. Being disposable, it removes the need to sterilise and reassemble a handle between patients, which is useful for minor procedures, dressing changes or any setting where a fresh, individually packaged blade for each patient is preferred for infection control reasons.
The carbon steel blade is intended to provide a sharp, clean cutting edge for making precise incisions during minor surgery, suturing preparation or general procedural use, while the plastic handle gives the operator a secure, comfortable grip during the procedure. Once used, the whole unit is discarded as sharps waste rather than being resterilised, simplifying instrument turnover in a busy clinic or theatre.
Disposable scalpels of this kind are used across general practice, minor surgery clinics, emergency departments and hospital wards wherever a single use cutting instrument is preferred over a reusable scalpel handle.
