Bionex Tonsil Dissector, Stainless Steel
An autoclavable stainless steel dissecting instrument used by ENT surgeons to separate tonsillar tissue from surrounding structures during surgery.
The Bionex Tonsil Dissector is a stainless steel ENT instrument used during tonsillectomy and related throat procedures to separate the tonsil from the surrounding tissue plane in a controlled, deliberate manner. Its blunt, curved working end is shaped to follow the natural tissue plane around the tonsil, letting the surgeon free the tissue with minimal trauma to nearby structures before the tonsil is removed.
Being made from stainless steel, the dissector is autoclavable and built for the repeated sterilisation cycles expected of reusable ENT surgical instruments in a hospital operating theatre. ENT surgeons and operating theatre teams performing tonsillectomies and other pharyngeal procedures are the primary users, applying the dissector as one of several specialised instruments used together during the operation, alongside forceps, retractors and suction devices.
Hospitals with a dedicated ENT surgical list typically keep a full tonsillectomy instrument set on hand, of which a dissector like this forms a core part. As with other reusable stainless steel surgical instruments, it must be properly decontaminated and sterilised between cases before being returned to the instrument set for its next use.
