Bionex Langenbeck Retractor, Stainless Steel
An autoclavable stainless steel Langenbeck retractor used across general surgery to hold back tissue and improve visibility of the operative field.
The Bionex Langenbeck Retractor is a stainless steel hand held retractor used widely across general surgery to hold back skin, muscle or other soft tissue so the surgeon has a clear view of the operative field. Its right angled blade is designed to be positioned at the edge of an incision, where an assistant applies steady pressure to keep the wound open during dissection, exposure or closure.
Being a simple, robust hand instrument rather than a self retaining device, it relies on an assistant's grip to maintain tension, which gives the surgical team flexibility to adjust the angle of retraction as the procedure progresses. Made from stainless steel, it is autoclavable and built to handle the repeated sterilisation cycles expected of reusable surgical instruments in a hospital operating theatre.
General surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons and operating theatre assistants across many specialties rely on Langenbeck retractors as one of the most commonly used retractor patterns available, suited to a wide range of incision types and depths. Like other reusable stainless steel instruments, it must be properly decontaminated and sterilised between cases before being returned to the instrument set.
