Bionex Desmarres Eyelid Retractor
An autoclavable stainless steel Desmarres retractor used in ophthalmology to hold back the eyelid, giving clear access during eye examinations and surgery.
The Bionex Desmarres Eyelid Retractor is a stainless steel instrument with a smoothly curved blade shaped to fit gently against the eyelid, used to hold it open and out of the way during ophthalmic examinations and minor eye surgery. Its rounded, atraumatic edge is designed to make sustained contact with delicate eyelid tissue as comfortable as possible for the patient while still providing the clinician with a stable, clear view of the eye.
This kind of retraction is a routine early step in many eye procedures, from removing a foreign body and treating eyelid lesions to more involved ophthalmic surgical work, where the surgeon needs the lid held reliably out of the surgical field. Made from stainless steel, the retractor is autoclavable and built to handle the repeated sterilisation cycles expected of reusable ophthalmic instruments in a clinic or hospital eye department.
Ophthalmologists, optometrists and eye clinic nurses use Desmarres retractors as a standard part of their eye examination and minor procedure instrument set. As with other reusable stainless steel instruments, it should be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised between patients according to the facility's protocol.
