Bionex Deaver Retractor, Stainless Steel
An autoclavable stainless steel Deaver retractor used in abdominal and general surgery to retract deep tissue and organs for better exposure.
The Bionex Deaver Retractor is a stainless steel instrument recognised by its long, curved, blade shaped body, used primarily in abdominal and general surgery to hold back deep tissue, bowel or other organs so the surgeon can access and visualise the operative field. Its shape allows an assistant to apply broad, even pressure across a wide area, which is particularly useful in deep abdominal cavities where a narrower retractor would not give adequate exposure.
As a hand held retractor, it depends on an assisting clinician to maintain position and tension throughout the procedure, offering the flexibility to adjust depth and angle as the surgery progresses. Made from stainless steel, the Deaver retractor is autoclavable and built for the repeated sterilisation cycles that reusable surgical instruments undergo between cases in a hospital operating theatre.
General surgeons, abdominal surgeons and surgical assistants across many specialties rely on Deaver retractors for open abdominal procedures where deep, sustained retraction is needed. As with all reusable stainless steel instruments, it should be properly cleaned, disinfected and sterilised between patients before being returned to the surgical set.
