3M Transbond XT Light Cure Adhesive Primer
A light cure orthodontic adhesive primer applied as a thin wetting film to dry, air-dried tooth surfaces ahead of direct bracket bonding.
3M Transbond XT Light Cure Adhesive Primer is an orthodontic bonding primer designed for use in a dry clinical environment, applied to teeth that have been thoroughly air-dried before bonding. It functions as a wetting agent between the enamel surface and the bonding adhesive, and only a very thin, uniform film is needed on each tooth for effective bonding, meaning practices use a small amount per application across a full arch of brackets.
This primer is commonly used as the first step in a standard direct bonding sequence, applied immediately after enamel etching and rinsing, and immediately before the bracket is positioned and the adhesive is cured. Because it depends on a dry field for effective performance, it differs from moisture insensitive primer options and is best suited to cases where isolation and moisture control can be reliably maintained throughout the bonding appointment.
Orthodontic practices that have an established, well controlled direct bonding protocol commonly use Transbond XT Primer as part of their routine bracket bonding kit alongside Transbond XT or compatible light cure adhesives.
