3M Transbond Plus Self Etching Primer, One-Step
A one-step self etching primer that etches and primes enamel together, used to prepare tooth surfaces before bonding orthodontic brackets.
Transbond Plus Self Etching Primer is a chairside bonding chemical used in orthodontic practices to prepare enamel immediately before a bracket is placed. Rather than following the traditional two-stage process of etching with phosphoric acid and then applying a separate primer, this product combines both steps into a single application, which shortens chair time on bonding appointments where a full arch of brackets is being placed.
The primer is described as delivering consistent and reliable bonding strength when it is paired with light cure adhesives, which is the standard workflow in most modern orthodontic offices. Because bonding failures mean a bracket comes loose mid treatment and the patient has to return for a repair visit, a dependable etch and prime step is one of the more important consumables on the bonding tray, even though it is a small and inexpensive item.
It is typically used together with standard applicators and a bonding tray, and practices that run a high volume of bonding cases keep it stocked as a routine consumable rather than ordering it case by case.
