3M Bair Hugger Lithotomy Underbody Warming Blanket, 58501
A single-use underbody forced-air warming blanket shaped for lithotomy positioning, providing unrestricted patient access while helping prevent hypothermia.
The Bair Hugger lithotomy underbody warming blanket, model 58501, is a single-use forced-air warming blanket designed for procedures performed with the patient in the lithotomy position, such as certain gynaecological, urological and colorectal surgeries. Positioned on the procedure table before the patient arrives, it provides unrestricted patient access appropriate to this positioning while warming the patient from below throughout the case.
Warmed air circulated through the blanket helps prevent hypothermia and maintain normothermia, which is particularly relevant in lithotomy procedures where a larger portion of the body may be exposed for positioning and draping. Maintaining stable body temperature during surgery has been associated with a reduced rate of complications, including surgical site infection, supporting the use of purpose-shaped forced-air warming blankets for specific surgical positions.
Being single-use, it is discarded after each patient to support infection control between cases. It is stocked under a single catalog number for this configuration.
