3M Avagard Surgical and Healthcare Personnel Hand Antiseptic with Moisturizers is formulated as a Chlorhexidine Gluconate 1% Solution and Ethyl Alcohol 61% w/w, combining two active ingredients to support surgical hand hygiene. The alcohol component provides a rapid initial kill of bacteria on the hands, while the chlorhexidine gluconate offers persistent antimicrobial activity that continues to work after the alcohol has evaporated, which matters during long surgical procedures where hands remain gloved for extended periods.
Alongside these actives, the formulation includes gentle emollients intended to support skin condition, addressing the dryness that can result from repeated surgical scrubbing over a working day. This product is used by surgeons, nurses and other healthcare personnel as part of their surgical hand antisepsis routine before entering the operating theatre.
