Steri-Strip Antimicrobial Skin Closures With Iodophor
Antimicrobial adhesive skin closures with an iodophor coated adhesive, providing added protection against infection when closing incisions or lacerations. It is a standard item in dental and medical practice.
Steri-Strip Antimicrobial Skin Closures are adhesive wound closure strips that include an antimicrobial adhesive containing iodophor, adding a layer of infection protection compared with a standard, non-antimicrobial closure strip. Surgical site infection is a recognised risk following any incision or laceration repair, and incorporating an antimicrobial agent directly into the adhesive is intended to help reduce that risk at the closure site itself, in addition to the mechanical function of holding the wound edges together.
These closures are described as being ideal for closure of lacerations, surgical incisions, and for providing wound support following early suture or staple removal, a situation where the wound has begun healing but still benefits from some external support as sutures or staples are taken out ahead of full tensile strength being regained.
As with other Steri-Strip closures, they offer a non-invasive way to support wound closure without adding further puncture trauma. Surgeons, physicians and nurses use these antimicrobial closures in hospital, surgical and outpatient settings wherever additional infection protection at the closure site is a clinical priority.
