Sklar Tyding Tonsil Seizing Forceps, With Catch
A 7-1/2 inch tonsil seizing forceps with a locking catch, used to grasp and hold tonsillar tissue securely during ENT surgical procedures.
The Sklar Tyding Tonsil Seizing Forceps is built to take a firm hold of tonsillar tissue and keep it under control throughout the surgical step, aided by a locking catch mechanism that holds the jaws closed once engaged. This lets the surgeon secure the tissue and free a hand, rather than maintaining constant grip pressure through the manoeuvre.
At seven and a half inches, it is sized for standard ENT surgical fields, and its design is closely associated with tonsillectomy and adenoid procedures. Instruments of this kind are used in ENT surgery performed in hospitals and day surgery centres, relied upon by ENT surgeons and their assisting scrub staff during tonsil removal and related throat surgery.
The locking catch feature distinguishes it from simpler tonsil forceps that rely on continuous hand pressure alone. As a reusable stainless steel instrument, it is cleaned, inspected and steam sterilized between patients as part of the ENT instrument set.
