Sklar Thoracic Trocar, 3.5mm and 4mm
A thoracic trocar used to create a controlled entry point through the chest wall, available in 3.5mm and 4mm diameters for chest drain placement.
The Sklar Thoracic Trocar is used to create a controlled puncture through the chest wall so a chest tube or drain can be placed accurately. Its sharp tip allows the clinician to penetrate the tissue layers of the chest wall in a single, deliberate motion, reducing the risk of an uncontrolled or misdirected puncture compared with a blunt approach.
5 millimetres and 4 millimetres, letting clinicians match the trocar size to the drain or tube being inserted and to patient size. Thoracic trocars are used in emergency departments, intensive care units and thoracic surgery settings whenever a pneumothorax, pleural effusion or haemothorax needs to be drained through a chest tube.
Emergency physicians, intensivists and thoracic surgeons are the typical users of this instrument. As a reusable stainless steel instrument, it is cleaned, inspected and steam sterilized between patients following the facility's standard protocol for sharp surgical instruments.
