Sklar TC Cushing Dressing Forceps, Gutch Handle
A 7 inch tungsten carbide dressing forceps with a Gutch handle and cross-serrated jaws, used to grasp dressings and tissue during surgery.
The Sklar TC Cushing Dressing Forceps features tungsten carbide jaw inserts finished with a cross-serrated pattern, giving a secure hold on gauze, dressing material and tissue while resisting wear better than a plain steel jaw over repeated use. Its Gutch handle design, a wider, more contoured grip than a standard flat handle, is intended to give the surgeon a comfortable, stable hold during longer procedures.
At seven inches overall, it offers a general purpose reach suited to a range of general and neurosurgical applications where the Cushing name is historically associated. This forceps is used in general and neurological surgery wherever gauze, cotton patties or soft tissue need to be held or positioned precisely.
Surgeons and their scrub teams rely on this pattern as part of a general or neurosurgical instrument set. As a reusable instrument with tungsten carbide inserts, it is cleaned, inspected and steam sterilized between cases following the standard reprocessing pathway for this class of instrument.
