Sklar Shallcross Forceps, Double Curved
A 7 inch double curved forceps used to reach and grasp tissue in narrow or angled areas that a straight instrument cannot access easily.
The Sklar Shallcross Forceps has a double curved shape that lets the surgeon approach tissue from an angle and reach around structures that would block a straight instrument. At seven inches, it is sized for general surgical use where the target tissue sits slightly out of the direct line of the incision.
This double curve pattern is commonly used in general, urological and gynaecological surgery for grasping tissue deep within a cavity or behind an obstruction, giving the surgeon a workaround without needing to enlarge the incision. It is typically handled by the operating surgeon or first assistant, who relies on the curve to maintain visibility of the forceps tip throughout the manoeuvre.
As a reusable stainless steel surgical instrument, it goes through the standard cleaning, inspection and steam sterilization cycle between cases, the same as the rest of a general surgery set stocked by hospitals and surgical centres in the region.
