Sklar Moynihan Stomach Clamp, 13 Inch
A 13 inch clamp used to occlude the stomach or bowel gently during gastric resection and other abdominal surgical procedures.
The Sklar Moynihan Stomach Clamp is used in gastric and general abdominal surgery to occlude a section of stomach or bowel, controlling the passage of contents and limiting contamination while the surgeon divides or resects the tissue and creates an anastomosis. Applying a clamp of this type before opening the bowel or stomach is a standard technique in gastrointestinal surgery, since it prevents leakage of contents into the surgical field while the resection and reconstruction steps are carried out.
The clamp's jaw is designed to hold gastric or bowel tissue firmly enough to achieve a seal without causing the level of crush injury that a fully serrated haemostatic clamp would cause to tissue that needs to remain viable for anastomosis. General and upper gastrointestinal surgeons use this instrument as part of a dedicated gastric surgery set.
It measures 13 inches overall. This listing is a single configuration. As with other Sklar surgical instruments, it is manufactured from surgical stainless steel and intended for repeated cleaning and sterilisation between procedures.
